Colorado trip...
...Our itinerary took us from OK to Kansas 1-70 of which is the most boring interstate...
...these 2 churches were the only sights of interest I saw...
...St Ann's Catholic Church in Walker, Kansas...
...it literally was on the only street in this town surrounded by rundown homes...
...I researched this town finding it is known as the German Capital of Kansas...
~~
...a little further down the interstate the steeple of this church became visible from miles away...
...the church, Sacred Heart Parish, has been a part of this western countryside since 1923...
...this is in Park, Kansas, which had 4 dirt streets that crossed with a population of 150+...
 ~~~
...As we passed over the Colorado state line, we drove through dense fog and scattered falling snow.  While getting closer to Denver, the fog lifted and the sun came out.  Our plans were to stop for the night but we decided to drive to Boulder and stay over there.  Once we got to Boulder, we realized we weren't that far from Estes Park, so we kept driving until we arrived at Estes where my OU college friend lives...
...Estes Park...
...the historic Stanley Hotel was one of the first hotels we saw, so that's where we stopped...
...As most people know, it is known for Room 217, where Stephen King was inspired to write The Shining...
...it sits on a hill overlooking beautiful, downtown Estes Park...
~~
...The elk are the easiest animals to spot...
...We saw them everywhere...
...Driving through the Rocky Mountain National Park with Judy was a highlight of our visit to Estes Park...
...We drove, I believe, on the Trail Ridge Road thru the park until we came to where it was closed for the season because of snow on the pass to cross the Continental Divide...
~~
...We spent our 2nd night in Estes with Judy and her husband, Lou...
...They treated us with a delicious dinner at the Dunraven Inn...
 A charming neighborhood restaurant...
...It is known for the dollar bills stapled to the entry walls and ceiling...
~
...After an evening of reminiscing our college days and our husbands telling stories of their younger years, we hit the sheets for a good nights sleep...
...Lou and Judy suggested we take the scenic byway on Highway 7, known as Peak to Peak, to get from Estes Park to Georgetown, our destination for the wedding we were attending...
SCOUT...
...August 30, 2000 - October 29, 2018...
...Scout, our family's sweet angel went to heaven today.  She was 18 years young.  Scout was born on the day the girl's dad was laid to rest.  She was the sunshine during a very difficult time in our lives.
We chose the name Scout for her because their dad's favorite book was To Kill A Mockingbird...@
...It was a sad day but we knew it was coming. Scout was a perfect companion for the girls and I when they lost their dad, and then for Paul and I.  He loved her, as we did, and spoiled her rotten.  Scout was crazy about her papa, also...Rest in Peace, sweet girl...you brought us much love and laughs...
...Christmas 2000...
~
...she would run circles when I would say "your sissy's are home"...
~~
...Scout made a few trips w/ us to Ruidoso, however, she didn't travel well...
